 Online Charging System (OCS) is an integral part of the telecom architecture. Due to its importance, it is also called the real-time beating heart of BSS. Not only it charges services in real-time, it also keeps track of service usage in the billing system database. An OCS calculates charges based on CDRs (Call Data Record) and can be used for both event based and session based charging.
